Our founders, Adrian, and Marc were childhood mates who grew up in Brisbane savouring all that the river city  had to offer. All grown up, the boys left home to seek adventure and make their mark on the world, what they discovered was a unique, vibrant food and beer culture more exciting than anything they had ever experienced. 

Finding themselves drawn back to their hometown, Adrian and Marc wanted to recreate this culture in their own backyard and bring a world class beer and food culture to the people of Brisbane. After a few beers on the dunes of beautiful Moreton Island, looking back towards Brisbane, a Green Beacon was spotted, an idea then sprouted, and a Brisbane icon was born.


Inspired by their adventures and armed with traditional brewing skills handed down by Adrian’s mother-in-law, the boys set a course for their next adventure and began brewing onsite in their Teneriffe warehouse, opening doors to Green Beacon Brewing Co on Australia Day in 2013.

Before long head brewer, Johaan Van Der Walt, took the reins of the brewing operations and set about building a range of full flavoured yet smashable beers. Green Beacon quickly built a reputation for quality and craftsmanship that led to the brewery winning Champion Medium Brewery at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Australian International Beer Awards. 


Today the beacon still stands in the bay, grounding us to our roots, and guiding us towards our next big adventure as we live life to the fullest.
